Tucked just under the 219 at Armor Duells in Orchard Park, lies Orchard Glen, a retirement community owned by Emeritus Senior Living, that invites the public to live a “Life in Bloom.” Emeritus is the largest quality provider of Senior Care and housing which plays a vital role in Orchard Glen’s ability to attract new families and seniors to this community as well as retain their current residents. The employees at such a high-caliber organization like Emeritus are well aware and quite proud of the outstanding programs and care offered to the Glen residents on a daily basis. As July unfolds, Orchard Glen residents continue to enjoy another year of precious freedom in a “bloom¬ing” and “booming” environment. With many thanks to our forefathers and the continued efforts of the US armed forces, we have the liberty of going a step further in exercising the rights to our freedom. As renowned psychiatrist William Glasser states, ““We are driven by five genetic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom and fun.” In line with this ideal, wouldn’t it be advantageous to seek out the best life has to offer? As the retirement years approach, one can certainly find opportunities for all five of these needs at Orchard Glen. In a comprehensive fashion, Orchard Glen provides a lifestyle opportunity that is reflective of the American spirit; the American dream. Pulling into the campus you are welcomed with lush green landscape, well manicured gardens, an eye catching pond and a putting green. The neighborhood is quiet, warm and inviting. With plenty of natural beauty, wildlife, bordering trees and walking paths, the ambiance is soothing and peaceful. These descriptions provide a mere outline of the attractions to discover along the 11 acre grounds which encompasses 88 one and two bedroom apartments, 12 patio homes and numerous common areas for residents to enjoy. Aesthetically pleasing from the inside out, it’s hard to believe that Orchard Glen has been in existence for over a decade. Maintenance and renovation projects are underway at Orchard Glen. A number of apartments have undergone cosmetic transformation and renovation of the common areas and dinning room will receive a facelift. Art work from the East Aurora Art Society populates hallways, adding a bit of gusto to the main drags. Some unique features include a heated underground parking garage, 24 hour front desk assistance, a well equipped computer lab, weekend fun trips and festive campus parties. Activities and recreation remain a strong highlight for Orchard Glen. As residents settle into their new living quarters, it is easy to meet neighbors who share similar interests. You may sign up for day trips, become a card shark, drop in for an evening of diversified entertainment in the library, or reserve a common area for your very own special gathering. You can lace up your sneakers and participate in fitness programs or utilize the machines in the fitness room at your convenience. You can be as active or as secluded to your desire! Convenient “for a fee” services include an on-site beautician, manicur¬ist, podiatrist, reflexologist, chiroprac¬tor and more. Many residents also decide to intertwine their daily activities around three nutritious meals provided by Orchard Glen’s very own culinary staff. Four to five dinner entrees are offered each day at the elegant Glen Lake Inn. A private dining room is available to entertain family and friends. So when residents grow tired of cooking for one, they join their neighbors for a balanced meal, pleasant conversation and healthy lifestyle. Enjoy even more freedom and flexibility as Orchard Glen offers month to month rent with no buy-in fees or long term leases. Depending on the need for space, more choices await! These choices start with 1,500 sq. ft. well-appointed patio homes with attached one car garage to up to 1,070 sq. ft. manor house apartments. Rents are all inclusive except for telephone, which includes utilities, housekeeping, transportation, satellite tv and 7 days a week activities. All floor plans and amenities are designed for the independent senior who wishes to live more socially and comfortably. If the need arises for more personal assistance or care, you may choose to contract with a health care agency to maintain your independence at Orchard Glen. As another comfort of home, bringing along your small, adored pet is certainly welcome here. In fact it’s quite easy for anyone to feel right at home at Orchard Glen. Hallways are spacious, colors schemes are easy on the eyes and the residents give off a “Will You Be My Neighbor?” attitude. This is especially apparent after speaking with Orchard Glen’s resident, Clarabel G. Milks, who gleams of contentment with her lifestyle. Clarabel spoke highly of the manage¬ment, as her own questions and concerns were addressed immediately and professionally. “Linda [Community Relations Director] and Joy [Executive Director] are so easily approachable and there is no pressure to sign up right away”, Clarabel explains. As a widow, Clarabel previously owned a condo for 25 years. Last winter, she was trying to aid in snow removal when she slipped and frac¬tured a hip. Her doctor predicted at least a year of recovery before she could drive and regain mobility again. After a few months of deliberation with loved ones, Clarabel decided Orchard Glen would become her new home. For many seniors, one of the hardest parts of leaving home is the process of downsizing memorable possessions. Luckily for Clarabel, her renovated apartment was able to accommodate all of her prized furniture and belongings, but if need be there are storage units available. Her second floor home overlooks a sparkling view of the pond and surrounding gardens. One glance around the apartment reveals a sparkle of its own, as housekeepers are now a part of her new lifestyle. Despite having to say goodbye to her beloved home, the move became more of a gain than anything else. She now has a greater sense of security and attributes her rapid recovery to her new environment. The layout of the community encourages therapeutic walking and added perks like weekly bible study, transportation services and active socialization are all part of her newly adopted lifestyle. Interestingly, in just two short months, Clarabel has uncovered 12 other residents at The Glen she has a lot of catching up to do in the next chapter of her life. She is one of our Glen Ambassadors & loves to show guests her home. If you are ever curious but not quite ready for a tour, several of the model apartments remain open to the public for easy convenient viewing. Prospective residents are encouraged to enjoy an overnight stay in a guest apartment at no charge. Family mem¬bers and guests may also rent out an apartment which makes for a conve¬nient out of town visit. Orchard Glen residents are getting ready for a fun summer line up of activities. Be prepared to spot the Orchard Glen Bus in their many travels this summer as they support their new motto “Orchard Glen, Always on the Move!” If you happen to site the bus out and about, pick up the phone and notify our staff and call (716) 662-5544 and you will be rewarded with a gift. Don’t be shy, stop on by! Make it a personal experience for you or a loved one. Fine tune your sense of freedom, and consider the above and beyond with Orchard Glen. |
